FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - One man was killed, a second injured, in an early morning shooting near Ft. Lauderdale.
The Broward Sheriff's Office said they received a call about gunfire in the 2500 block of NW 9 Street just after 1:30 a.m.
When deputies arrived they found two men who had been shot outside a home. One of the men, whose body was lying in the driveway, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rhonda Tumblin lives in the home with her son Derrick Carn, one of the men who was shot.
"He knocked on the door and was bleeding. I don't know what happened," she told CBS4's Tiani Jones.
Carn was taken to Broward Health Medical Center.
"They say he was critical, I don't know, so I'm on my way there now," she said.
Tumblin identified the man who died as Michael Powell.
Investigators spent hours going over the scene. Much of their investigation focused on an SUV in front of the home with several bullet holes in a window. They have not released a motive for the shooting.
