1 Dead In Hallandale Beach Shooting; Crashed SUV Found Riddled With Bullets
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Police are investigating a deadly overnight shooting in Hallandale Beach.
A person who watched surveillance video of the attack tells CBS4 that a gunman was hiding behind a pillar then suddenly began shooting as the victim walked nearby — chasing him down the sidewalk, firing several shots into the man after he was on the ground.
Nearby, there was a bullet hole in a store window and another in a parked car.
Authorities found a crashed SUV in a shopping center on West Hallandale Beach Boulevard, just off I-95.
On the ground there were more than a dozen evidence markers, with what appears to be shell casings all over the place.
"He basically see what happened in that moment when he hear the shots and turn back and the saw the car in there, but he didn't see anybody running or getting out of the car," said nearby business owner, Mirela Ercan.
Ercan said it all happened as one of her employees was getting ready to begin his shift.
"He say it was multiple shots, not one or two he says (make noise) a long period of time with shots," Ercan added.
Police have not released a lot of information. It is known that a person was found injured a few doors down in a parking lot.
The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. Back at the SUV, video shows bullet holes in the vehicle, blown-out windows, and more bullet holes in the building where the vehicle crashed.
"I think it's very sad, again, in this beautiful town come with this kind of violence," said Ercan.
