Deadline Coming For Magnet School Applications

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Time is running out for students to send in their applications for Magnet Programs in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
Miami-Dade and Broward County Public Schools offers a wide variety of choices. Magnet Schools and programs allow you to elect out of an assigned boundary school and enroll in a Magnet program which specializes in areas of interests, talents, and abilities.
There are Magnet Schools and Programs for students as young as 4 years old.
Currently, there are 460 choice programs in over 100 Miami-Dade schools, with an enrollment of over 57,000 students.
Magnet programs are available to students under the following six themes of study:
- Careers & Professions
- International Programs
- Liberal Arts
- Mathematics, Science, & Technology
- Visual & Performing Arts
- Virtual Offerings
The application period for the 2016-2017 school year opened on October 1st, 2015 and closes January 15th, 2016 in Miami-Dade.
In Broward County, the application window for the 2016-2017 school year is open now through February 10th, 2016.
