Daytona 500 Rescheduled For Monday Night
DAYTONA BEACH (CBSMiami) – For the third time, the Daytona 500 has been delayed due to inclement weather.
According to NASCAR President Mike Helton, the race is now scheduled to start Monday at 7 p.m.
Incessant rain on Sunday forced NASCAR officials to move the 54th annual Daytona 500 to noon on Monday. The rain began falling on the Daytona International Speedway just after noon and kept up throughout the day.

It was the first time in the history of the race that rain had ever postponed the start.
This year, for the first time since 1992, a woman will be in the field of 42 drivers.
Danica Patrick has that honor coming twenty years after Shawna Robinson's start in "The Great American Race."
Patrick's week in Daytona has been eventful with a high-speed crash in her Gatorade Duel qualifying race and a pole position for Saturday's Nationwide Series opener.
But for many race fans their eyes will be on Trevor Bayne as he goes for his Daytona 500 victory. If he pulls it off, he'll be only the fourth driver to accomplish such feat since and first since Sterling Marlin in 1994-95.
