Daughter Allegedly Punches Woman After Mother Said "Handle That"
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A dispute at a gas station ended with a mother under arrest for a litany of charges including contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
According to Fort Lauderdale Police: on August 17th, a woman pulled up to a gas pump at 831 W. Sunrise Blvd in Fort Lauderdale and then Quacheena Juett, 33, allegedly began yelling at the woman to pull her car forward. Juett and the other driver then got into an argument, which is when Juett turned to her daughter.
According to FLPD, the mother told her 12-year-old daughter to "handle that" at which point the girl walked to other driver and hit her in the face with a closed fist. The victim told police she had recently had surgery and was unable to defend herself.
FLPD said at that point the victim began to walk back to her car to get her cell phone which was an Apple iPhone.
When Juett saw this, police said she ran to the other car, opened the driver's side door and grabbed the cell phone which was inside the car. FLPD said the mother and daughter then got into their car and took off from the gas station.
The stolen phone had a GPS tracker.
"They were able to track the iphone with the GPS back to your house the victim identified the vehicle in the driveway," said Judge John Hurley, addressing Juett in bond court.
In court, Juett appeared via videoconference in a vest usually reserved for suicidal inmates. As the judge read the accusations against her, she protested, reapeating, "That's not true." She was told to remain quiet, but continued to throw up her hands and shake her head.
Juett now faces charges including burglary with battery, contributing to the delinquency or dependency of a child, resisting arrest without violence, dealing in stolen property, and probation violation.
She remains in jail.
