Dania Beach Roller Coaster Shut Down
DANIA BEACH (CBS4) – Florida's largest wooden roller coaster, located here in South Florida, has shut down, but it's not known how long the attraction will halt operations.
Andy Hyman, general manager of Dania Coaster Limited, has confirmed to CBS4 News that the coaster is no longer operating, but he wouldn't confirm reports on roller coaster fan websites that the coaster had closed due to bankruptcy.
The Hurricane roller coaster shares its property, visible from I-95, with the Boomers family amusement center in Dania Beach. Boomers, which operates an indoor arcade and 12 rides of its own, does remain open for business.
The Hurricane, which opened on November 1, 2000, is a 100feet high and 3,200 feet long wooden roller coaster that speeds up to 60 mph.
