Dania Beach Man Jailed For Hollywood Hold Up
HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) - A Dania Beach man could run but couldn't hide from the long arm of the law after he reportedly robbed a Hollywood bank.
It happened just after 9 a.m. Thursday at the SunTrust branch located at 2001 Hollywood Boulevard. Police said 64-year old James Kelly walked and handed a teller a note demanding money. The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and Kelly walked out of the bank.
Arriving police officers spotted a man a few blocks away at 19th Avenue and Fillmore Street which matched the robber's description. Several people who were in the bank at the time of the robbery positively identified Kelly as the robber. Police placed Kelly under arrest without incident and recovered the money.
Kelly will have his initial appearance in Federal Court in Ft. Lauderdale on Friday to face Federal Bank Robbery charges.
