Dan Marino Sells Weston Estate
WESTON (CBS4) - After more than five years on the market, former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino has finally sold his palatial home in Weston.
Florio Abbate, former president of Saxon Business Systems in Miami Lakes, and his wife Glenda purchased the 10 bedroom, 12 bath home in the Windmill Ranch Estates community for $7.2 million, according to the Sun-Sentinel. The 19 thousand plus square foot mansion sits on a peninsula and comes with a guest house and staff quarters.
Purchased in 1995 for just over two million dollars, Marino, 49, originally put the home up for sale for $15.9 million at the height of the housing market in 2005; then the market collapsed and values plummeted.
In 2009 Marino chopped two and a half million off the price and offered it fully furnished. But even with that there were no takers. The last MLS listing on the house, which expired three months ago, had the price even lower at $12 million.
The Marinos still own a condo in Weston.
