MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Former Miami Dolphins interim head coach Dan Campbell is moving on to a new team.
Per multiple reports, Campbell will be an assistant head coach and the tight ends coach for the New Orleans Saints.
Campbell, who was very popular with Dolphins players and was interviewed for the team's coaching vacancy that has since been filled by Adam Gase, is considered an up-and-coming coach in the NFL after his tenure in Miami.
Saints head coach Sean Payton coached Campbell when he was a tight end with the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants and Saints.
Campbell had been an assistant coach with the Dolphins since 2010. He went 5-7 during his time as interim head coach after Miami fired Joe Philbin in October.
Gase decided not to keep Campbell on his staff, instead hiring former Washington Redskins offensive line coach Shane Day as the Dolphins new tight ends coach.
The Saints have also added Aaron Glenn and Joe Lombardi to their coaching staff as secondary coach and quarterbacks coach, respectively.
