MIAMI (CBSMiami) - With a  shirt wrapped around his head and gun in hand, a serial robber has hit eight businesses in the same area in the last month.

Miami-Dade police say since October 6th, he's committed seven armed robberies within a one mile radius. He's targeted businesses between NW 60th Street and 95th Street between NW 21st and 27th Avenues. He's also suspected in an armed robbery about four miles away from this target area.

Businesses robbed include two different Family Dollar stores, a McDonalds which he robbed twice, a Metro PCS which he also robbed twice and two gas stations.

In each robbery, the employees were threatened at gunpoint to hand over cash.

One of the gas station clerks, Sergio Morales, spoke out about his experience during the robbery.

"He comes in with a gun, says, 'let me get all the money.'  He comes around cause I just sat down cause I thought it was a friend playing a prank or something," said Morales.

But once Sergio realized, it wasn't a prank, he decided, he wasn't letting him get away with anything.

"I stood up like I was going to give him the money. I grabbed the bat, got his hand off the this way, where the gun was and I hit him over the head," said Morales.

The man fled empty handed but that wasn't the case in the other robberies.

Miami Dade Police want this dangerous criminal off the street before he strikes again.

"Each one of his robberies, he's been known to get more and more dangerous.  He's holding up customers as well as the clerk," said Det. Jason Hammond of the Miami-Dade Police Department.

Morales who knows first hand what it was like to come face to face with a gun-wielding robber said he's got one short but clear message for him.

"I hope you get caught," said Morales.

Police ask anyone with information on this person to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers (305) 471-TIPS(8477).
