Dade Man Accused In Murder Of Girlfriend & Her Daughter
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A southwest Miami-Dade man who reportedly stabbed his girlfriend and her daughter to death has been ordered to be held without bond.
Exildo Mastrapa, 43, made his first appearance in bond court on Thursday.
Just after 8 pm. on Saturday, Mastrapa called 911 and told the emergency operation that he had just stabbed the women and himself inside an apartment at 15590 SW 106th Lane. When officers arrived they found the front door of the apartment open and Mastrapa sitting in the bathroom with a knife impaled in his chest. They then found the bodies of the two women in the kitchen.
Mastrapa was taken to Kendall Regional Hospital where he underwent surgery to remove the knife from his chest.
During questioning, Mastrapa told investigators that he and his girlfriend, 43-year old Tania Viera, had lived together for a about a year, according to his arrest affidavit. He described her as being "extremely possessive and argumentative."
He said when he got home Saturday evening, he and Viera got into another fight, according to the report. During the fight, Mastrapa claimed Viera threatened to call the police and "make false allegations against him." When she reached for her cell phone, Mastra allegedly hit her. As he grabbed for her cell phone, she armed herself with a knife, according to the report.
Mastrapa then reached for a frying pan and struck her, according to the affidavit, he then grabbed the knife.
When the woman's daughter, 17-year old Maria Cabana, came up behind him, he reportedly whirled around and stabbed her several times telling her "I would never hurt you." He then turned and stabbed Viera several times, according to the report, yelling "I will give you something to call the police for."
Mastrapa was arrested and charged with two counts of first degree murder.
