Dade Judge Grants Bond To Trio Accused Of Gang Rape
MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) – A Miami-Dade judge has set bond for three Southern California men accused of raping a woman at the posh Fontainebleau Hotel on Miami Beach.
Originally Paul Thorington, 22, Anthony Albano, 23, and Ray Laranjo, 23, were being held without bail. On Thursday, a judge ruled that each could be released on $50 thousand bond and would be allowed to return home to California where they will be under house arrest. They will each have curfews and only be allowed to leave their homes for work, school or worship. If they violate the terms of their release, they will be brought back to Miami and jailed until trial.
The judge also set their arraignment hearing for April 14th.
According to police, the men met the woman on March 23rd at a pool party held at the Shelborne Hotel. She reportedly agreed to go to the room where the men were staying so she could drop off her purse.
There, the victim told police, the three men held her down on the bed and each had sex with her.
Police add that while the victim was trying to defend herself, she bit one of her attackers.
The Fountainebleau issue a statement saying "The safety and security of any guest visiting the Fountainebleau is the number one priority of hotel security. Fountainebleau is fully cooperating with Miami Beach Police on the incident, but cannot comment on the case as it is an ongoing investigation."
