Cypress Bay Teacher Cleared Of Criminal Wrongdoing
WESTON (CBSMiami) – A Cypress Bay High School teacher and coach has been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing following an investigation over allegations he was having a sexual relationship with a student and engaging in sexual texting conversations with another student, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
The Broward Sheriff's Office said it was contacted by the Broward School District to investigate David Korsun, a social studies teacher and wrestling coach.
Broward County Schools District spokeswoman Nadine Drew said Korsun was "administratively reassigned" to a different location within the school system and away from any contact with students during the investigation.
Tuesday, BSO officials said their investigators spoke to the 18-year-old student at the center of the controversy. She told investigators it was consensual sex and since she's 18, the legal age to have sex, there was no legal wrong-doing.
In addition, BSO investigated the alleged sexual texting incident and found it not to be criminal.
School officials said they were unaware of who made the complaint against Korsun.
"The district's immediate response was a district reassignment and to open an investigation to determine what is going on and whether the allegations have merit," said Drew.
