Cyberbullying Ban Passes Another Senate Cmte.
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) – The Florida Senate is one step closer to passing a bill that would for the first time include cyberbullying under the state's anti-bullying law.
The Senate Judiciary Committee cleared the bill (SB 626) on Monday by a unanimous vote. The House has already passed its own version of the bill.
The bill is set to extend protection from bullying when it's done online. According to the bill, bullying using computers off school grounds has to "substantially interfere with or limit" a student's in-school activities to be covered or causes disruptions in the educational process.
Florida would be the 17th state to enact a cyberbullying law the bill ultimately passes.
