Cuban Migrants Come Ashore On Marquesas Keys
KEY WEST (CBS4) – After two days at sea, a group of smiling Cuban migrants were escorted to a Coast Guard cutter after making their way onshore the Marquesas Keys just west of Key West.
Florida Fish and Wildlife officers heard the radio chatter on VHF radio as people were jumping overboard and setting foot onto the island around 1:00 p.m., Monday.
All 22 men made it to shore.
Their raft was 25 feet long, according to FWC, with a small engine.
After being picked up by FWC, the aliens were given food and water and transported to the Coast Guard Cutter Nantucket.
They were all reported to be in good condition.
