Cristobal Becomes Slow-Moving Hurricane
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Tropical Storm Cristobal was upgraded to Hurricane Cristobal as it slowly moves away from the Bahamas.
At 11:00 p.m., Cristobal was 665 miles southwest of Bermuda. It's maximum sustained winds were estimated at 75 mph as the system creeps to the north-northeast away from the Bahamas at 2 mph.
Bermuda is on alert for Hurricane Cristobal passing by the island.
The government of the Bahamas discontinued the Tropical Storm Warning it had posted for the Central Bahamas including Cat Island, the Exumas, Long Island, Rum Cay and San Salvador.
Four to eight inches of rainfall was expected across the Turks and Caicos as well as the southeastern and central Bahamas through Tuesday. Isolated 12-inch rainfall totals are possible.
Tropical Storm Cristobal is expected to continue on a north-northeast track through Tuesday with a slight increase in its forward speed.
