Cristobal Headed To Univ. Of Alabama
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Former Florida International University head coach Mario Cristobal is now a former University of Miami coach as well after accepting the job of offensive line coach at the University of Alabama.

Cristobal had only been back with the University of Miami for a short time after a stunning firing by Florida International University athletic director Pete Garcia. UM head coach Al Golden brought Cristobal onto his staff to be an associated head coach/tight ends coach.
The move by Alabama head coach Nick Saban to bring Cristobal to Tuscaloosa is a shrewd move by the Bama coach and a logical step for the former FIU coach. Saban brings in a coach as dialed in with South Florida high schools as anyone in the country, which only helps Alabama's already stellar recruiting.
Cristobal will also gain quite a bit on the staff of arguably the best college football coach of this generation.
While at FIU, Cristobal compiled a 27-47 record, but he also built a program at the school from scratch while dealing with crippling NCAA sanctions, and got the school to its first two bowl games in school history.
Cristobal's job at the University of Alabama is the proverbial worst to first story for the coach. He has gone from one of the most poorly run athletic departments in the country at FIU to arguably the top football program in the nation in Tuscaloosa.
