Criminals Target FBI With Obvious Results
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Of all the places a criminal would target, an FBI field office is not high on the list…unless you're the trio accused of trying skim off a construction contract with the feds.
According to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald, three men were working for a subcontractor at the FBI's new field office in Miramar. During the work, they "fluffed" the amount of electrical wire needed for job and Wednesday they were caught selling the stolen wiring for $23,600 in cash.
The FBI learned about the deal from a confidential source and the sale to undercover agents happened outside a Miramar warehouse. Two buyers of the wire told the FBI they paid $23,000 cash, but weren't aware the wiring was stolen.
Two of the three defendants were stopped in their car and agents found two envelopes full of cash in the front seat.
The Herald reported those arrested were: William E. Hamilton, Robert Geseck, and Michael McGuire and all three worked for the subcontractor M.C. Dean. All were granted bond of $150,000 in their first court hearing and are awaiting their arraignments.
