Crime Stoppers Tip Leads To Arrest In Key West
KEY WEST (CBSMiami) – A man considered to be a career criminal was arrested in Key West after a Crime Stoppers tip.
Monroe County Sheriff's Office said the tip said 34-year-old Frank Jones was driving a mint green BMW.
Late Friday afternoon, a deputy spotted the car near mile marker 11.
The deputy followed the car and saw Jones get out of it at a condominium complex off Coppitt Road.
That deputy said he also noticed two small children in the back seat and a woman, the owner of the car, get out of the passenger seat.
When confronted, the deputy said Jones backed away nervously and began reaching into his pockets despite being told not to do so.
The deputy used a Taser on Jones, but he was still able to run, according to the MCSO.
A lieutenant with the Sheriff's Detention Center was close by and helped to arrest Jones.
Jones' license had been suspended numerous times. He was taken into custody and faces the charges of driving with license suspended with knowledge, resisting arrest, failure to register as a career offender and aggravated battery and kidnapping / false imprisonment (Key West Police warrant).
