CRF Frozen Vegetables Recalled Over Possible Contamination

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- CRF Frozen Foods is recalling a number of their frozen vegetable products over concerns they may be contaminated with Listeria.

Fifteen types of their frozen vegetables are included in the recall that spans through parts of the U.S. including Florida.

State health officials discovered Listeria during routine testing in Ohio, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Listeria has been found to cause cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.  A Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

At last check, no illnesses had been reported in connection to the recall.

The recalled frozen vegetables which includes peas, corn, mixed vegetables, edamame, among others were distributed to retailers and distribution centers between September 13, 2015 and March 16.

Those who have the product are urged not to eat it and instead return it back to the store or throw it away.
