Craigslist Post Leads To Chop Shop Bust

FLA. KEYS (CBSMiami) - Detectives from Monroe County Sheriff's Office got a lead from a Craigslist post that resulted in a chop shop bust.
Investigators were contacted by a man who said his custom-made fuel tank was listed on the classified advertisements website. He told authorizes his aluminum tank was stolen from his truck at his Key Largo home between October 5th or 6th.
According to authorities, the man had a friend call the number posted on Craigslist and his friend found out where tank was being stored.
Monroe County detectives called Hendry County Sheriff's Office and relayed the information to them.
Hendry County investigators went to the location and two men let them on the property. Investigators said they found tools, vehicle parts, numerous stolen ATVs, boats, trailers and automobiles.
The property had been reported stolen from various places including Monroe County, Miami Dade, Broward County, Pembroke Pines and Hillsborough County.
Mitchell Wayne Everett, 49, of Hendry County and Ernesto Gutierrez Garcia, 49, of Hialeah were arrested and charged by Hendry County deputies for their connection in a chop shop.
Charges from Monroe County and the other jurisdictions will likely follow.
