Couric To Debut Daytime Talk Show In 2012
NEW YORK (CBS4) - Could Katie Couric be the next Oprah Winfrey?
On Monday, ABC announced that the one time CBS Evening News anchor has signed a multi-year contract to produce a talk show which will debut in the fall of 2012. In the interim, she will also do some work for ABC News.
Couric had talked with all the major players in the syndication market. But by the time she signed off last month after five years as the "CBS Evening News" anchor, ABC had outlasted the other suitors.
ABC's bet is that with Winfrey ending a talk show that dominated the marketplace, viewers might seek something new and Couric is the biggest available name out there.
