Couple Robbed At Gunpoint In Pembroke Pines Home Invasion

PEMBROKE PINES - A Pembroke Pines couple was robbed at gunpoint during a late night home invasion while their kids were home as well.
The woman was in the garage of her home at 159th Avenue and NW 7th Street around 11 p.m. Sunday when two men, in hoodies and bandanas, walked in through the open overhead door and pointed a gun at her. They threatened to harm her unless she did what they said.
Neighbor Egar Galvis said the family always has their garage door open and the gunmen took advantage of that.
Pembroke Pines police said the gunman held a gun to the woman's head and demanded she hand over valuables. They forced her into the house and into the master bedroom where her husband was. They forced him to the ground and demanded money. They ransacked the house and got away with cash, two wedding rings, three cell phones and a wallet.
The couple's three children, all under the age of 18, were also home at the time. Nobody was hurt and the suspects walked out the front door.
Neighbors are concerned.
"It can happen to any of us," said Vonda Krisch. "A lot of us are open and friendly and have our garages open a lot."
Neighbors said it's been a little unsettling in the past weeks due to multiple car break-ins, all on Sunday evenings.
"It looks like the guys pass and see which car was open but my car was locked but this car, no, so they get in and take some personal stuff," said Galvis.
