Couple Burned Out Of Dania Beach Home
DANIA BEACH (CBSMiami) – An early morning fire burned a pregnant woman, her two children and her boyfriend out of their Dania Beach home.
Around 3 a.m. firefighters were called to a duplex in the 3300 block of SW 45th Court. Arriving crews saw flames inside one of the units and smoke billowing from the front windows.
Jessica Gonzalez said the power was off in the unit and they had been staying her mother's home in Hollywood. They had planned to return in January. Gonzalez and her partner Ralph Figueroa lost everything they had in the fire.
"Everything was gone when we looked inside, everything was gone. There were just springs on the mattress and the crib in our room, it was gone," said Gonzalez.
"It's disastrous, like a hurricane, like any kind of tragedy, its sad, but the most important thing is we're alright," said Figueroa.
Gonzales, who is due to give birth to her third child in just a couple of weeks, said Figueroa was laid off from his job so this is a tremendous setback.
Broward Sheriff Fire and State Fire Marshals are trying to determine if the fire was intentionally set.
