Corrections Officers & Inmates Hospitalized After Suddenly Getting Sick At Miami-Dade Detention Center

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Mystery remains after several people from a Miami-Dade jail had to be taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

Several employees inside the Miami-Dade pre-trial detention center were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

A suspicious substance was found which may have caused the illness. The substance is being tested.

This is not the first incident at the facility in the last 24 hours.

Late Tuesday night, four inmates and three corrections officer from the pre-trial detention center were taken to the hospital after complaining of nausea and vomiting. They are expected to be okay.

According to Miami-Dade County Corrections, all of the staff members who were hospitalized have been released.

The incident is still being investigated.
