Coral Springs Woman Sentenced For Defrauding U.S. Marines
CORAL SPRINGS (CBSMiami/Sentinel) – The few and the proud are anything but proud of Dorothy Boulin.
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports the Coral Springs woman targeted U.S. Marines, stealing their names and social security numbers to submit fraudulent tax returns.
Boulin, 29, was sentenced to five years and ten months in federal prison on Thursday for her role in the identity theft tax fraud scheme, according to prosecutors. They add that she sought close to $54,000 in fraudulent income tax refunds, mostly using Marines' identities without authorization.
She pleaded guilty earlier this year to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft and admitted to submitting 14 tax returns online in January.
Believe it or not: If U.S. Marines are angry with Boulin, they are even angrier with Jobson Cenor.
Prosecutors said Cenor, 22, of Miami, was a U.S. Marine who sold to Boulin the names and identities of his fellow officers while he was stationed in Afghanistan. Cenor has pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit tax fraud and the case against him is still pending.
Boulin helped FBI agents make the criminal case against Cenor by making a recorded telephone call to him and telling him how much money he would make from the alleged crime, authorities said.
