Coral Springs Cop Hurt In Crash Involving School Bus
CORAL SPRINGS (CBS4) – A Coral Springs police officer was airlifted to the hospital after he was involved in collision with a Broward County school bus.
Coral Springs police spokesman Lt. Joe McHugh said Officer John Malvin, who was riding his department issued motorcycle, was heading north in the 3600 block of Coral Ridge Drive when he struck the rear driver's side of a Broward County School driven by 58-year old Margaret Carter.
Carter had been attempted to turn south on Coral Ridge Drive from NW 36th Street when the collision occurred.
Malvin, who was thrown from the bike, was airlifted to North Broward Medical Center with fractures to his shoulder, kneecap, finger and several ribs. Carter and the three students aboard the bus were not injured.
This was not the only accident involving a school bus in Broward; two minor ones were reported in Davie. The first involved a bus colliding with a car in the area of State Road 84 and Davie Road. There were 10 students on the bus, none were injured.
A short time later, another fender bender involving a bus and an SUV occurred on Davie Road near SW 39th Street near Nova Middle School and DD Eisenhower Elementary. The 21 students on the bus, along with the driver, were not injured.
