Cops Find Blood In Bravo's SUV, Aguilar's Backpack In His Closet
GAINESVILLE (CBSMiami) — Police released new details Saturday morning in the murder of Doral Academy graduate Christian Aguilar.
Court records reveal police found Aguilar's backpack in the bedroom closet of suspect Pedro Bravo's apartment. Even more chilling: they revealed blood was found in several locations of Bravo's 2004 Chevrolet Blazer.
While the newly-released information did not mention whether the blood was Aguilar's, it did detail the Sep. 20 attack on the biomedical engineering student from start-to-finish.
According to the records, the two met up on Sep. 20 in Gainesville at The Hub, then traveled to other locations and finally went to a Best Buy. Pedro Bravo told investigators that, after getting in an argument over a girl both had dated, he punched Christian in the face and forced his high school friend out of his SUV.
Bravo said that he then exited the Chevrolet Blazer and attacked Aguilar for ten to fifteen minutes. Bravo said he was on top of Aguilar, punching the UF student until he lost consciousness. He said that Aguilar was barely breathing and not moving at the time Bravo left the scene.
Bravo then told investigators that he turned off Aguilar's cell phone and threw it into a wooded, water-covered area. He then returned to his apartment and hid Aguilar's backpack in a suitcase in his bedroom closet.
The records indicate there have been no calls from Aguilar's cell phone and no activity on his credit cards since Sep. 20.
The court records also reveal that police recovered surveillance video showing Bravo purchasing a shovel and duct tape on Sep. 16, four days prior to Aguilar's disappearance.
Meanwhile, Bravo appeared in bond court Saturday morning wearing a suicide watch outfit. No parents were present, only an Aguilar family friend.
The judge denied bond for Bravo, meaning he will remain in Alachua County Jail. Bravo is charged with murder and depriving a victim of medical care.
