Congressman Joe Garcia Officially Sworn In Monday
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Newly elected South Florida Congressman Joe Garcia was officially sworn-in Monday.
Bob Graham, former senator and governor of Florida, administered the oath of office at Miami-Dade College Kendall Campus.
Among a bipartisan group of special guests were Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL) and former State Senator Alex Villalobos (R-FL).
After two failed campaigns for Congress, Garcia defeated Republican David Rivera in November to represent South Florida's District 26 in Washington, D.C.
District 26 was created after the 2010 census. It covers all of Monroe county and parts of Miami-Dade, from Key West to Kendall.
