Community Continues Rallying For 6-Year-Old Boy Killed In Shooting

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – It was another night of peaceful demonstrations seeking justice in the death of 6-year-old King Carter.
"We ask you to bring the killer to justice. We ask you to bring the killer to justice," said a man who only identified himself as Dwight.
King was shot in broad daylight Saturday afternoon – hit by a stray bullet as a result of a gun fight.
Locals told CBS4 it was a fight between rival drug gangs.
The community is outraged.
They marched and rallied through the heart of Liberty City on Monday night. Now, this Tuesday night, they congregated at the scene of the shooting.
"Bikes up, bikes up, bikes up, guns down. I am King Carter!" the crowd chanted.
It's the rally cry of local bikers who ride in protest of gun violence.
And the boy's father is also crying out.
"Nobody doing anything about it. They come through with fake love, fake support, politicians, all of them," said Santonio Carter, King's dad.
But he does have support of a rather large group of Liberty City residents – and the police hard on the case.
Earlier, they conducted a routine community policing visit. This week just happens to be at the complex where the shooting took place.
"We are exhausting all the information we get," said Major Ricky Carter. "We are asking a lot of questions of those in the community because a lot of times the community knows more, as much as we do."
