Colombian President To Speak At University Of Miami Monday
CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) -- The President of Colombia Juan Manuel Santos Calderón is set to visit the University of Miami Monday.
The president will also address students, professors and dignitaries at the university.
UM President Donna E. Shalala , in conjunction with the Center for Latin American Studies and the Center for Hemispheric Policy invited the president to speak.
Santos Calderon served as Colombia's First Foreign Trade Minister as well as Finance Minister and National Defense Minister.
He created the Good Government Foundation and in 2005 and founded the political party Partido de la U, which is now the nation's largest political party.
In 2010, Santos Calderon was elected as the 32nd President of Colombia with 9 million votes.
The event starts at 9 a.m. at the Newman Alumni Center, 6200 San Amaro Drive on the UM Coral Gables campus. The event is not open to the public, it's by invitation only.
