College Professor On Leave For Asking Student To Vote For Obama
COCOA (CBSMiami) – A professor at Brevard Community College is under investigation after the school received complaints that she was asking her students to support President Barack Obama during her classes.
Brevard College said they have received complaints of "politically based, inappropriate behavior" during classes held by Sharon Sweet. She's an assistant math professor and is accused of soliciting support for the president.
Sweet asked for and was given a leave of absence without pay. The college said it is investigating the deal and will interview more than 100 students.
The AP reported that phone messages and an e-mail left for Sweet at the college and at her home were not immediately returned.
The college said it does not allow employees to solicit support for a political candidate during school hours or on school property.
