"Coin Crusader" Strikes Again With A Triple Blessing

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The "Coin Crusader" has struck again and this time, the generous but anonymous donor dropped three rare gold coins into Salvation Army Red Kettles in Pompano Beach.
Two were found in the Red Kettle at the Walmart on West Atlantic Boulevard and the third was found in the kettle at the Walmart on South Federal Highway.
The South Federal Highway location also had two of the same exact kind of rare coins deposited over the weekend. This makes five gold coins received this season by the "Coin Crusader".
Each of the 1947 Mexican peso gold coins are wrapped in individual dollar bills.
The Salvation Army received three of the exact same coins during last year's Red Kettle Campaign.
Each coin is worth about $1,400 each.
"We are thrilled to have received these blessings at a very critical time when kettles are down by 15% from last year's totals during the same time frame," said Major Keath Biggers, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Broward County.
The Red Kettle Campaign began in 1891. Monies raised locally stays within the community, providing services for families with children, housing for the homeless, food for the hungry, and countless other programs for those in need year-round.
