PINECREST (CBSMiami) -- The battle roasting over the exclusive rights to serve coffee at a shopping plaza in Pinecrest has been settled.
The Pinecrest Bakery is now back to serving their popular cafecito and cafe con leche drinks after Starbucks agreed to drop the fight.
The landlord for the shopping center on the corner of S.W. 67th Avenue and Dixie Highway had originally forced the Cuban bakery to stop serving the drinks at the request of Starbucks. The bakery owners said they reluctantly signed the agreement out of fear that they would have to close down the business if they didn't sign.
However, as word got out online, and angry bakery customers flooded social media with one-star reviews, the coffee giant caved and agreed to a truce.
Starbucks released a statement:
"Starbucks has been committed to being a good neighbor for nearly 20 years at our 6603 South Dixie Highway location in Miami, serving as a gathering place for the entire community. We're thankful this situation has been resolved and an agreement was reached that is beneficial for all parties."
