MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A Coconut Grove school was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon.

Miami Police said Frances Tucker Elementary School was put on lockdown around 2:30 p.m. It was lifted just before 4:30 p.m.

Investigators had set up a perimeter from Thomas Avenue to William Avenue and Douglas Road to Plaza Street as they searched for robbery suspect, 18-year-old Devante Fance, in Coconut Grove.

Around the same time, the school lockdown was lifted, the search was declared over.

Authorities said they did not find Fance. They said they had spotted him in the area of William Avenue near Plaza Street earlier, prompting the school to be placed on lockdown and a perimeter to be set up.

Fance is wanted in connection to a robbery that took place on the 100 block of Oak Avenue back on July 31st and for battery on a City of Miami Police officer.

The suspect's father, Wade Merrell, was at the scene and says police came looking for his son at his house. He says his son has never been in any trouble.

"He has a lot of friends...he's a good kid," said his father. "He's never been in no trouble and no robbery, no burglary, no domestic violence, no nothing."

Now, City of Miami Police are asking for the public's help to find him. If you have any information, contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
