Coast Guard Rescues 3 Men Off Coast Of Bahamas
FT. PIERCE (CBS4) - A very happy reunion in Ft. Pierce as family members greeted three men who were rescued off the west end of the Bahamas by the Coast Guard.
Bruce Mandigo, Dave Mandigo and Jhade Woodall left from Boynton Beach in a 35 foot boat. They were anchored about 22 miles northwest of Wes End when the boat began taking on water Sunday morning. As the men put on their life jackets, the boat sank beneath their feet. After activating a personal locator beacon, the men clung to a cooler until help arrived.
After being spotted by a Coast Guard aircraft, they were picked up by the Coast Guard Cutter Bluefin; all three men were hungry but in good overall health. The Coast Guards said the men survived what could have been a potentially dangerous situation by being prepared and properly equipped for an emergency.
