DAVIE (CBSMiami) –Whether you're a blue collar worker or a CEO, heart disease doesn't discriminate.
Rick Case and Dr. Edward Savage, co-chairs for the 2015 Broward Heart Walk, held a leadership breakfast on Wednesday morning to spread the word about America's number one killer.
The walk doesn't take place until next April, but organizers have been hard at work fundraising for the event.

This year Case set a lofty fundraising goal of $650,000.
"We want to get everybody in Broward County, in South Florida, educated on how to lead a good healthy long life," said Case.
The money raised will go to benefiting local heart and stroke research, education and community programs in South Florida.
The breakfast brought guests and other executives together to learn about the impact of the American Heart Association.
The point was prevention through awareness.
"We want to actually engage people in the process," said Savage. "Let's not just talk the talk, but also walk the walk. Learn what it is to go out and walk three miles. Get your family involved. You know somebody who's sitting on couch not every active. If you're worried about them bring them along."
Upwards of 10,000 people are expected to march together at Nova Southeastern University on April 12.
Richard Luceri, a Cardiologist and a sponsor, understands people are "marching for a cause that has affected their grandmothers, their parents, their children, themselves. You'll get a sense of solidarity that you're not alone and something can be done to help this."
