HAVANA, Cuba (CBSMiami) -- The Kardashians are in Cuba.
On Wednesday, Khloe took to Instagram to share some photos of her and her sisters enjoying cigars, sightseeing and showing off their cute hats and emojis.
But chalk it up to either west coast ignorance or just being a flippant fashionista as the reality star took a photo standing underneath a stone wall highlighting a quote from Cuban leader Fidel Castro.
The photo set off a tirade from fans who thought it showed support for the communist regime.
"Many of us that are angered here due to this post are either in exile or have lost family members or both because of the Castro regime. This comment is coming from a Cuban/Armenian," said commenter bettypage2000.
In Little Havana, reactions were similar.
"I do not like that. I don't know why she came out with that. Maybe she has no idea what is going on in Cuba," asked Ibie.
As of Thursday night, nearly 8,000 people had chimed in on Khloe's account with their two cents.
"There's a Spanish saying that is very Cuban which says "no sabes ni en donde estas parada". Translation: You don't even know where you're standing," said cccheeenaaa.
Fans still stuck up for her, conceding that it was likely accidental and the reality star isn't aware how disrespectful many Americans, especially those with Cuban ties, consider the image.
"It was probably just an honest mistake. She could have been taking a picture behind the statue because she thought it was pretty," said _andi_cline_.
Others still offered suggestions for things to do on the island.
