FBI: Clueless Crook Leaves Name On Note To Teller
POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – An attempted bank robber didn't get what he wanted from a Chase bank. His demands for cash were denied by the bank teller behind bulletproof glass. What possibly makes this case one for the "dumb criminal" file is that in his alleged efforts to rob the bank, police said he not only left behind a note with his demands, but also his name.
The attempted robbery took place at the Chase bank at 101 S. Pompano Parkway in Pompano Beach April 10.
The man wearing a long-sleeved shirt and a baseball cap, later identified by officials as Felipe Cruz, slipped the teller a note which read: "Give me all the 100s 50s 20s now. Do not set the alarm. Hurry !!!"
The complaint affidavit states the teller backed away from the window after reading the demands and the man fled. According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, the note left behind was written on an employment search form containing a line stating "my user name" and the handwritten notation "CRUZFELIPE36" and after another line stating "my password is" was the notation "Work$6553".
Prints were also obtained from the deposit slip and the Broward Sheriff's Office stated they matched Cruz'.
However, authorities said the bank's teller was unable to identify Cruz as the suspect in a line up.
The FBI believes Cruz is the suspect based upon video surveillance and the prints found on the note.
