WASHINGTON (CBSMiami/AP) — Hillary Clinton met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in New York City on Sunday hours after her Republican rival, Donald Trump.
Trump met with the Israeli leader for more than an hour at his residence in the Trump Tower on Sunday morning, according to Israeli and campaign officials.
Both meetings come on the eve of the first presidential debate.
Reporters were barred from covering either meeting. Trump's campaign said in a statement released afterward the two discussed topics important to both nations.
The Israeli leader has sought to project neutrality after perceptions arose in 2012 that he favored Mitt Romney over President Barack Obama.
