DANIA BEACH (CBSMiami) -- A clerk with a mop was not to be deterred during an armed robbery of a Dania Beach convenience store in which two masked males got away with about $400 in cash.
The Broward Sheriff's Office has released surveillance video of the March 31st robbery of the Express Gas Food Mart at 3401 Griffin Road.
Security cameras captured the two males creep up to the store just before midnight. Inside, one clerk was behind the register while a second took advantage in the lull in business to mop the floors.
One of the hooded figures then bursts through door, with a gun drawn, and rushes behind the counter where he demands the cash from the register.
His partner in crime tries to keep the man with the mop from interfering. That doesn't seem to be a problem. The man continues to mop while the lead robber grabs the cash and then doubles back to the counter to see if there is anything of value to take from a cabinet below the register.
The Broward Sheriff's Office said both males wore black knit masks, hooded sweaters, dark-colored pants and gloves.
Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS (8477) or go to browardcrimestoppers.org. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $3,000 for the anonymous tip that leads to an arrest.
