Cleaning Lady Accused Of Swiping 11-Carat Diamond Ring
DEERFIELD BEACH (CBSMiami) – Instead of cleaning the house, a cleaning lady is accused of cleaning out the nightstand drawer.
Francine Jackson, 48, of Boca Raton, was charged with grand theft and ordered held on $2,500 bail Friday, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.
According to a Broward Sheriff's Office report, Jackson was hired by Carol Guerriero to clean her home, located along the 1900 block of Northeast Fourth Street in Deerfield Beach.
Guerriero told detectives that Jackson stole a 11-carat diamond ring from her nightstand drawer. The ring, valued at $30,000, had been placed in the drawer prior to Jackson's arrival.
Jackson left the home abruptly after the alleged theft occurred, the report said.
No one else had access to the part of the home where the ring had been stored, the Sheriff's Office said.
At her initial court hearing, Jackson told Broward County Judge John "Jay" Hurley that she also worked as a nanny and only had $11 in her bank account to bond out.
