Citizens Prop. Appraisers Ready To Go

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) – Adjusters with Citizens Property Insurance are gearing up to start damage assessing damage as soon as the proverbial coast is clear.

In a statement issued Sunday, Citizens Board Chairman Carlos A. Lacasa said the mobile units will be ready to move quickly into affected areas to assist property holders as soon as Tropical Storm Isaac moves away.

Officials from the state's largest property insurer estimate they could get up to 50,000 claims, depending on the storm's path.

They've called in 300 independent adjusters in addition to the 450 adjusters currently in the field. Officials say an additional 3,400 pre-qualified adjusters can be called upon if necessary.

If your property is damaged, Citizens urges policyholders to make necessary temporary repairs to protect their property. They should keep receipts for reimbursement.
