Chinese Team Denies Wade Contract Offer

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Fans of the Miami Heat will be waiting a long time to see the team play again as the NBA lockout shows no signs of getting worked out. Some players have decided to play overseas, and a published report Wednesday said Heat star Dwyane Wade has been offered a spot on a Chinese team.

According to the Chengdu Daily via CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald, Wade was offered a contract that would pay him $2 million a month to play for the Chinese Basketball League team, Zhejian Guangsha.

But, as soon as the report came out, a team official with Guangsha said the report was not true. Wade visited the home of the Guangsha last week on a Nike tour.

Wade has not completely closed the door on playing overseas if the NBA lockout lasts into the season, which is looking more and more likely.

"We are not there yet," Wade said about playing overseas. "We are going to start working out. The time to consider that has not come."
