Child Struck By Dirt Bike In Ft. Lauderdale Remains In Critical Condition
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A five-year-old, who ran from the porch of a residence towards a roadway, was struck by a dirt bike and remains in the hospital in critical condition.
Authorities say a young child ran from the porch Friday to the north side of Northwest 16th Street in Ft. Lauderdale towards the roadway.
A driver, upon noticing the child in the street, stopped the car to avoid striking the child. The driver of a dirt bike, identified as 22-year-old Brandon Dennis, attempted to pass the stopped vehicle by traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Northwest 16th Street.
As Dennis, passed the stopped vehicle, he struck the child and Dennis was ejected, according to authorities.
The child was transported to Broward Health Medical Center for life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.
Dennis was transported to Plantation General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
