Chiefs Release Former Cane RT Eric Winston
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins may keep Jonathan Martin at left tackle for the 2013 season if they can't re-sign Jake Long, but that would open a spot at right tackle for the Fins to fill once again in the offseason.
But, with the Kansas City Chiefs set to take either left tackle Luke Joeckel or Eric Fisher with the number one pick in the NFL draft, the Chiefs had an expendable right tackle in former University of Miami Hurricane Eric Winston.
According to ProFootballTalk.com, the Chiefs have rectified the situation by releasing Winston, meaning he is now an unrestricted free agent. Winston was set to make $4.9 million in 2013 with the Chiefs and spent only one season in Kansas City.
Winston has started every game since the 2007 season and could fill a spot of nearly yearly need for the Dolphins at right tackle.
Winston was drafted out of the University of Miami by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft.
