Chicago Bears TE Arrested In Miami Beach
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Chicago Bears tight end Evan Rodriguez isn't a household name among football fans, but he's now known very well by the Miami Beach Police Department.
Rodriguez was arrested near 6th and Alton Road on Miami Beach and booked just after 5:30 a.m. Thursday on charges of resisting an officer without violence and disorderly intoxication.
According to the arrest report, Rodriguez was a passenger during a traffic stop in Miami Beach. Police said Rodriguez was asked for his ID and said, "For what, I don't need this. I'm an NFL player. I don't need all that media stuff."
Police said Rodriguez later got out of the car and walked off leaving his ID and the driver behind.
Miami Beach Police said after they asked Rodriguez to walk to the sidewalk out of the road, he said, "I'm hard-headed like that and I don't have to listen." Rodriguez would again say, "I don't need this, I'm an NFL player."
Rodriguez was facing a $1,500 bond for the two misdemeanor charges.
The former Temple Owl just finished his first season with the Bears in 2012 and had four catches for 21 yards last season while starting five games.
