Chelsea FC To Take On AC Milan At Sun Life Stadium
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Two of Europe's biggest soccer teams will be coming to Sun Life Stadium this summer for an exhibition match as part of the World Football Challenge.
Chelsea FC, who is playing for the European championship next weekend, will face off against AC Milan on Saturday, July 28 at 6 p.m. in Sun Life Stadium. Tickets will start at $29 and will go on sale at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at all Ticketmaster outlets.
"We're excited to team up with CAA Sports and MLS to bring two of the most successful clubs in the world to Miami," said Matt Higgins, CEO of RSE Ventures. "We're pleased Chelsea FC and AC Milan are coming to the home of international soccer for an unforgettable match. Working with the Dolphins and Sun Life Stadium, we plan a full line up of summer soccer in what promises to be an annual tradition in Miami."
The game will be Chelsea's first appearance in South Florida. The team is playing for the UEFA Champions League title and features standouts like Spanish forward Fernando Torres and English national team stars John Terry and Frank Lampard.
AC Milan hasn't been to South Florida in 18 years. The last time AC Milan was playing at Sun Life Stadium was in 1994 when they played the Colombian National Team. AC Milan has players including Brazil's Robinho and Pato and Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
"Miami is a soccer hotbed," said Mike Dee, CEO of the Miami Dolphins. "This announcement continues the tradition of bringing world-class events to our facility."
