Charlie Crist To Announce Plans Next Week
LAKE BUENA VISTA (CBSMiami/AP) — We'll know soon if Charlie Crist is going to throw is hat in the reing for next year's governor's race.
The former Republican governor turned Democrat worked the crowd at the Florida Democratic Party's weekend-long conference and now says he'll announce his plans Nov. 4.
It's hardly a secret. Crist has been building up to a run for months and this weekend sought to further solidify the support in his new party. He shook hands, attended caucus meetings, was mobbed in hallways and he looked very much like a candidate.
But he's not. Yet. That's why Crist didn't have a speaking role at the event, which showcased other Democrats running for statewide office, including former Sen. Nan Rich — the only credible candidate that's filed paperwork in hopes of challenging Republican Gov. Rick Scott.
