Caught On Camera: Brazen Burglar Breaks Into 2 Doral Restaurants
DORAL (CBS4) -- A brazen burglar broke into two Doral restaurants over the weekend, and the crimes were caught on camera.
It happened in the 7800 block of NW 25th Street.
It angers Subway restaurant owner Jose Cuesta every time he watches the surveillance video from early Saturday morning.
It shows a man wearing dark clothing jump out of his car and use what appears to be a tire iron to shatter the front door to the business Cuesta's owned for 11 years, to get inside and steal from him.
"Now we see him running through the store and jumping over the counter, he's checking the register which was empty. There was no money in it. I guess he got frustrated, there was nothing in it, he jumps back again and runs out of the store," Cuesta said as he described the video.
After breaking into the Subway, the burglar wasn't finished with his crime spree. He then smashed his way through the glass door at the neighboring pizza place, Sopranos At Doral.
"He jumped over (the counter) and came to the cash register and took the whole box," employee Amayli Quintero told CBS4's Natalia Zea.
Quintero said the burglar got away with $600.
The surveillance video from the Subway shows the man running to his car, throwing the object in the trunk and driving off.
He committed both crimes in less than 60 seconds.
"At least nobody got hurt, there was nobody here so that's a plus," said Cuesta. But he has strong words for the burglar.
"Stay away from my store, stay away from all the stores, get a job."
The crimes make Quintero look over her shoulder.
"It's kind of scary, it makes me nervous to work here."
She said if she met the burglar, her message to him would not be in the form of words.
"Honestly I'd probably just punch him in the face."
Doral Police don't have a clear description of the man yet, they're still getting surveillance video from around the strip mall. If you think you recognize him or his car call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
